Working with the Board of Directors, Schutt & Company is generating ideas for "next step" statewide land use efforts. Following the creation of the Michigan Trend Future Report, the MSPO desired to continue the leadership position and take the next steps in developing position statements on trends that need to be changed or stopped, creating a statewide dialogue on how to address destructive trends and developing strategies for accomplishing change. Schutt & Company is working with the Board to develop a program, strategy and funding. A grant application has been created with various state partners. IMAGIN (Improving Michigan's Access to Geographic Information Networks) - IMAGIN (Improving Michigan's Access to Geographic Information Networks) -Schutt & Company provided administrative support to this statewide professional organization of GIS creators and users. Deborah Schutt served as IMAGIN's first Executive Director with the goal of positioning the organization financially so that a full time employee Executive Director could be secured. Polly Ann Trail Management Council - Schutt & Company provides administrative staff support to L. O. Management, Trail Manager for the Polly Ann Trailway Management Council and the Polly Ann Trailway Management Council. Administrative support includes the preparation of monthly Council agenda packages, preparation of minutes and official files, assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and grant status reports to funding agencies, preparation of a membership brochure, preparation of correspondence, creation and maintenance of a 700 person membership database, membership renewals and the preparation of policy issues for Council consideration and action. In Summer 2001, Schutt & Company prepared for the Polly Ann Trail Management Council under separate agreement a Comprehensive Signage Plan for the Trail. Schutt & Company authored the 2001 Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan Greenways Grant Initiative Application, which was successful in securing a $240,000 grant award for the Council. (October '99 - present) Mr. Larry Obrecht, Vice-Chair Sustaining Natural Resources - The heart of Michigan's Land Use Planning - Schutt & Company worked with the Land Information Access Association in brainstorming future efforts for the organization. An innovative program involving the creation of custom C D ROM's with user-friendly software interface was developed. The purpose of the C D ROM's was to provide citizen planners with Geographic Information System landuse/landcover map information for their municipalities along with "how to" instructions to provide them with critical information needed to make wise land use decisions. Schutt & Company identified the funding source of EPA's Sustainable Development Challenge Grant and prepared for LIAA a grant application for the $250,000 program. Woodward Avenue Action Association - The Woodward Avenue Action Associations has prepared a land use/policy/program plan for an eight-mile section of the corridor representing five cities. Schutt & Company is assisting the Association to insure that as local master plans and zoning ordinances are being updated, they reflect and are consistent with the plans for the overall corridor.
